Another day in Debville

Yesterday was quite the day.

I have shared in my house morning sickness reigns supreme. Well now instead of waiting until I am awake to worship the porcelain throne I am waking up about 2 or 3 am every morning to do it.

Yesterday at 4:30 in the morning I called to say I was going to be running late. I showered real quick...threw on clothes and then got in the truck...started the truck...it was on the big Empty...so off I go to circle K get to the gas pump...fill 'er up with gas...get back in the car...turn the key...NOTHING...no vehicle jumping to life...no cranking....not even clicking....just DEAD. Okie Dokie.

I call Rob...he's at work of course since he's been night shifting these past couple weeks. He can't do anything since he's more than an hour away. Then I call my Dad.

"Daddy I need your help...my battery is dead and I am late for work and I am stuck!"

In true Dad like style..."I'll be right there!"

Then I go inside the circle K and explain that I need help pushing my 4runner beast away from the gas pump. The guy at the counter looks at me like I am crazy and says he's the only one there...I say I see Al (the manager) is here because his truck is parked in the lot. He goes back and Al comes out and then the kid helps me get the truck into the spot.

I turned the wheel....he pushed. I am not sure who had the harder job. Let's just say I have a new appreciation for power steering!

Just about that time my dad arrived and drove me to work. He said he'd buy me the new battery. (I am such a lucky girl) It turns out he didn't need to as it's just the cables were all corroded and so there was no connection. Rob and he worked on it when Rob got home from work. It's all fixed now.

Anyway....I get to work...only about an hour late and am sitting there happily working along when my friend Lisa comes up to me and says...

Do you know your shirt is on inside out?

LOVELY! I am Debbie and I dressed myself today. LOL

At least she told me BEFORE I had the meeting with my supervisor's supervisor. I think I may have just invented a new shade of red.

Love it! Oh Deb, I laughed with true appreciation in my heart.

I remember having to put a customer on hold so I could go and puke out my morning sickness at the office restroom.

You have my sympathies. This may not be of any use to you, but it helped me: eat whenever you are hungry (I'm not sure how this fits in with your doctor's diet and stuff), the longer I waited to eat, the greater my tendency to puke. Put a can of frozen juice on the back of your neck and lean back into it. The cold on that area helped zapped many of my morning bouts with nausea. Also, become good friends with candied ginger and strong mints and ginger ale. Hope it helps.
