Mama's a rookie!

Well....Abby has been a little under the weather here of late. Her nose was running like crazy and she was fussy a LOT!

Last night the poor baby screamed and cried at the top of her lungs for about 45 minutes. I cried right along with her because there was nothing I could do to comfort her. She was crying so hard she was gasping for air! Just when I thought I could stand it no more and was ready to call Rob and see if we should go in to the ER she feel asleep.

This afternoon when I came home she stuck my unsuspecting finger in her mouth and chomped down with her two brand new CHOMPERS! Yes that's right my little angel has teeth! Two of them to be exact...and she knows how to use them! After bandaging up my finger (not really) I ran and told Dee (whom I suspect knew before me but had the good sense to let me discover them on my own) and then I called Rob. Nobody seemed as excited as me. I wonder why!

::::sigh::::::

Here I was trying to suction out her nose to give her relief and what she really needed was some good old fashioned Tylenol to ease the pain of teeth ripping through her gums.

Clearly I am a rookie parent as I confused full fledged teething with a cold.

I really should follow my mom's lead. When we were kids unless you were gushing blood or a bone was sticking out it didn't warrant a trip to the ER.

In fact when I was three I broke my elbow doing a penny drop...the thing where you hang upside down on a bar and swing yourself over so you land on your feet....well apparently sisters who are 7 are capable of doing the penny drops...but three year olds...well lets just say I had the "drop" part down really well.

So here I am a three year old girl who has just broken her elbow and my mom looks me over and tells me to go finish cleaning up the yard and picking up the toys and I'll be fine.

FINE???? If by fine you mean broken....well okay! Poor Mom...lol....I torment her with that story to this day.

I doubt Abby will ever have a story like mine. Her story will be something along the lines of....Mama remember when you took me to the ER for my first hang nail.

Ahhhh motherhood....never a dull moment!
