Create in me a new heart Oh God....

My blogging life has been non existent lately and by lately I mean more than 3 years. My actual life has been full..I had a child, got married, lost my father, moved in with my mother......there have been changes...LOTS of changes, lots of life.

I recently took a class (the 7 habits of highly effective people) and I was very moved by it. Because of my class I wrote down what I want people to think when they think of me after I am dead. I decided that I want them to say that I looked for the good in everything and everybody. I also want them to say that I made a difference in their lives.

Once I made the decision it became much easier to see what areas of life I needed to work on. I am happy with most areas of my life. I am really very successful. I have achieved the goals of my childhood. I am married and happy. I have a beautiful daughter (although I dreamed of having 4 kids...a boy..a girl...4 years...a boy...a girl) and a wonderful job.

What I am not happy with is myself. Me. I have looked at happy people and set my goal to do what they do so I can be happy. While imitation is the most sincere form of flattery it doesn't make one true to what God made them to be.

What is it that God created me to be?

God and Libby 1....Satao GOOSE EGG!

Libby 1, “The Devil” 0

Our prayers were once again answered as Libby’s Friday cancer surgery went well! Although she looks as though she went a couple of rounds with Muhammad Ali (at the moment), she is in good spirits (and is singing God’s praises) – but still hurting!

The surgery went pretty much as the surgeon expected, although he did find some additional cancer cells in the rear wall of her sinus cavity, that hadn’t shown up on her MRI, or any of the other many tests that she has undertaken in the last couple of months. He is confident that he was able to remove that as well. She still has a tough recovery period to endure (and then radiation) – but she’s always liked a good challenge. Maybe that’s why she married me.

Libby, Kelly, Debbie, Rob and I wish to express our deep appreciation to everyone (family, extended family and friends) for the concern they’ve shown; prayers, calls, cards, plants, food and postings to Kelly and Debbie’s Facebook pages. Libby loved the messages she read from many of those “kids” that she had worked with at Thunderbird Furniture. She has always had a genuine fondness and concern for each and every one. Libby is also very appreciative of the anointing service, and the following meal that was arranged by our little church family in Cave Creek (and attended by many friends from PV). It was very special, and a highlight to a very unnerving couple of months.

A special thanks to Dick Knipple and family (Fred and Debby Reill ) for spending much of their Friday with us while we waited for Libby’s long surgery to be completed. Your encouragement and concern were greatly appreciated.

Well, as I expected, Libby just called me and asked why I wasn’t down there at the hospital – so I will end this and get going. Thanks again everyone!

Libby’s grateful and blessed family.

Walked 2 miles in 58 minutes. Felt pretty good...little tired in the middle. Sweet Pea is still panting...I am not really breathing heavy but I am pretty sweaty...and we all know how I feel about sweating. ICK

I am off to the showers.

Day 2

Well day two isn't going as well as day one did. Unfortunately I have a big giant blister and walking with it is basically not an option. I am going to let it heal today and tomorrow and get back on the training regime on Thursday. Hopefully it will be healed enough on Saturday to do the long walk.

More updates tomorrow.

Our First day of training

Truly bad be

I don't know how to flip the pictures...this is gonna bug me till I figure it out. However here are the before pictures.

I walked (didn't run) 2 miles today. It took me just under an hour. I feel pretty good after my walk. I expected to be exhausted but instead I feel energized.

My plan is to walk two miles Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and 5 miles on Sabbath for 1 month. Then bump it up...and up and up until I am doing the prescribed 22 miles a week.

Marathon Plans

Okay so perhaps 5 miles for the first day was a bit well CRAZY. I drove 5 miles in my car tonight and there is no way I could ever make it. Neither could my running partner (my poor sweet unsuspecting k-9).

I plan to take before pictures tomorrow so I can document what I looked like BEFORE. (I'll make sure both Sweet Pea and I look absolutely miserable and as droopy as possible as all before pictures should look) and that way in 2010 when I take the AFTER pics we can all oooo and ahhhhh.

So tomorrow I will walk 2 miles...up hill one way...down hill the other. Let's see if I can survive. :)

Running a Marathon

I have decided it's time to tackle a hard task. It's been too long since I accomplished something that was out of my personal comfort zone. Therefore I have decided to run a marathon, specifically PF Changs Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in 2010 on January 17, 2010.

Training starts tomorrow with a 5 mile run/okay walk who am I kidding...but I am going to work my way up!

As part of my training regime I am going to post my miles logged on my blog.

Here is what my training should look like:
Monday 5 miles
Tuesday 5 miles
Wednesday OFF
Thursday 5 miles
Friday Off
Saturday 7 miles
Sunday OFF

I am not setting goals for how long I want to do the 26.2 miles in yet because right now 26 miles is a distance I would only consider traveling in my CAR....but I will get there.
