News of a different variety
My life interesting as it is can be boring to read about...so I thought I'd give you an update on my very cool family.
First and update on Suzy. She is trying out for American Idol today. I wish her much luck.
In other family news....my little cousin is going to the Olympics. Makes me feel proud and fat all at the same time! Here is the link to his page.

Happy Wednesday
Oye!
2 days and my baby will be 9 months old. How did that happen? I have pictures to post of her but they are at home and I am at work.
Life in Debville remains interesting to say the least. Ellen (Rob's mom) is much better. She is going back to work on Friday...weird day to go back but hey whatever flips yer pickle.
When Ellen moved in while she was sick Abby moved out of her room and into ours. So now that Ellen got better and moved back home we have moved Abby out of our room and into her own room. I am sad. I miss her little sleeping noises and being able to open my eyes and see her in the crib.
Rob and I are working things out. This past week has gone very smoothly which I am so thankful for. I very much needed a week of peace.
Rob is still out of work. He's diligently looking for employment but it's not so easy to find. There is also the babysitter dilema. Unless he works second shift it's pretty much useless for him to work because by the time we pay a babysitter it's almost a break even situation. In addition he wants to go to school for AC repair. We've got some thinking to do on that front.
Speaking of AC repair...we needed a repair guy this weekend. Sheesh....we were hot! It was only 91 in the house but it is monsoon season and very very humid. Abby is remarkably unphased by heat. Of course Rob and I did a lot of the famous "The rain drops fall with a pitter pitter pat" while spraying Abby with a water bottle.
Normally I bemoan the fact that we are renters....this weekend I sang the renters praise song! It goes something like this...."We are so glad that we don't have to pay the $500 bucks that is charged for replacing the "specialized" motor." This is a song I could sing all day long.

The home fires
Still lots of stuff happening on the home front around here.
Ellen leaves for her daughters house on Friday. She and her RN friend are driving there (Montana) on Friday. I am against it....I think it's too early for her to set out across the country on an adventure. Her insicion is not even 100% closed yet....sigh....I worry about her.
If things continue as they have been between Rob and I we will not be together for very long. We start counseling on Saturday to see if there is a possibility we can put this relationship back on the road to recovery. I am not terribly hopeful at this point...but I love him and am willing to try one last time.
Abby is my little pride and joy...she stands up in her crib now with a gleeful little smile and babbles at me....she is clearly proud of her new found balance and she has every right to be!
Rafiqe continues to hog up my bed....selfish little bed pig that he is. I wonder what it would be like to just be able to stretch out and not have to fight the dog for the privilage of sleeping in my own bed.
I need a pooper scooper....how the two of these dogs create so much poo is beyond my ability to comprehend. Ah well...whatever goes up must come down...or in this case...what ever goes in...must come out. :x
A word on recycling. In our old apartment we did not have a recyle bin because there were no recycling cans available. Now that we are in the new house we do recycle. I had no idea how many things i used that can be reused. Now i have all kinds of guilt feelings for the many MANY items that I just threw away. I vow to be a more responsible earthling from now on!!!
That brings me to the local farmers market....i am sooooooooooooooo getting my veggies from there from now on. It's grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! in addition....the more organic i go the more resposnible of an earthling I am.!
Woo hooo

Abby
Rob's mom goes to the doc today to find out what plan b is since she is still leaking.....more news on that front on Monday.

Ahhh...teething....not a joyous time. Little people should not have to hurt and that is all there is to it.
We got some pictures taken with Eric, Abby and my Uncle Chuck. Here they are.

Enjoy!

News on Ellen
Hi folks,
Rob's Mom had her surgery on May 30, 2008. The surgeon stated she has what is called a frozen pelvis (she had cancer last year and they did radiation which is what caused this condition.)and so they had to do a complete bowel resection.
She had some complications after surgery (conjestive heart failure and a blood clot in her lung) that she has bounced back from. Right now she is leaking and isn't allowed anything by mouth so she is being fed with something called TPN (IV food). We are just in hurry up and wait mode for the next week or so. Our hope is that the tissue isn't too damaged by the radiation to heal. Please say a prayer that it heals.

Busy
As I write this I have the song from the Veggie Tales "Busy Busy...more than a bumble bee more than an Ant!" going through my mind.
Having a house that is twice the size of the condo is....drum roll please....TWICE as much WORK to keep.
Rob hurt his back and can't work right now....so that means I am working extra to bring in extra cash. Ten hour days are MUCH longer than 8 hour days!
It rained last weekend and so my new yard...which I was so excited to get....has WEEDS. Weeds are defined as "unwanted plants". I had a lot of them. They are now almost all gone due to me and my little three fingered grabber dealy. I love that tool!
We now have a recycle can. I feel so green! It does take some getting used to though. I have to remember to sort my trash. Kinda reminds me of sorting laundry....laundry....i spit at laundry!
How? HOW? does the laundry multiply so quickly? In the closet there isn't that much....as soon as it hits the basket (or floor next to the basket) it grows! When Abby was born it was fun to do her laundry...so little and cute...but now her laundry has learned the dirty tricks of the grown-up laundry.
Abby sat up Tuesday for the first time on her own. I tried to get a picture but by the time I got the camera Rafiqe had knocked her over.
I've decided to put a tree in Abby's room for decoration. She LOVES trees so I figure I will make one for her. I am going to take paper bags and make the trunk and the branches....green consruction paper for the leaves. Staples are SO much easier to undo than paint! I cried when I had to paint over her nursery in the condo. It was so beautiful. At least I have pictures.
Tomorrow is Ellen's surgery. I post on here as soon as I can how things went.
I've got to get back to work for now.

We are in our new house! Yea!!!
We had lots of help moving. I am not sure what we would have done with out it either. The boys had the 17 foot (it was completely full and all of our stuff wasn't even on there) packed up and unpacked by about 11 am. They even moved my piano! What would I have done without my boys???? I might still be lifting boxes that's what!
The new house huge. There is so much space I don't know what to do with myself. Get this...we have 2 drawers in the kitchen just for pots! How exciting is that? Acutally the house isn't THAT big but when you've been living in 800 square feet more than 1200 square feet is a big deal.
The dogs have a yard! Rafiqe LOVES it. Sweet Pea on the other hand doesn't like to leave her air conditioned house. She goes out only to go potty and then she's right back inside.
We are going to need to do something with Abby's room. It's so plain in there. When she was born my friend went to town on her room and hand painted Winne the pooh scenes all around her room. I am used to bright and cheery. This room is all white....I am thinking her room is the first room to recieve a makeover. I was thinking we'd do a pink room...but I don't really want an all pink room for her...to girlie. I like natural colors better.
Oh bother! (a quote from Winne the Pooh!) It's time to get back to work.

Last night Rob's mom came over to tell us she is going to need surgery. She has a partially blocked bowel. The tricky part is that they did radiation on her to get rid of the cancer she had last year and it did damage to the bowel so when they cut it she might not heal. The Dr gives her a 50/50 chance of survival. Pretty serious stuff.

Mama's a rookie!
Well....Abby has been a little under the weather here of late. Her nose was running like crazy and she was fussy a LOT!
Last night the poor baby screamed and cried at the top of her lungs for about 45 minutes. I cried right along with her because there was nothing I could do to comfort her. She was crying so hard she was gasping for air! Just when I thought I could stand it no more and was ready to call Rob and see if we should go in to the ER she feel asleep.
This afternoon when I came home she stuck my unsuspecting finger in her mouth and chomped down with her two brand new CHOMPERS! Yes that's right my little angel has teeth! Two of them to be exact...and she knows how to use them! After bandaging up my finger (not really) I ran and told Dee (whom I suspect knew before me but had the good sense to let me discover them on my own) and then I called Rob. Nobody seemed as excited as me. I wonder why!
::::sigh::::::
Here I was trying to suction out her nose to give her relief and what she really needed was some good old fashioned Tylenol to ease the pain of teeth ripping through her gums.
Clearly I am a rookie parent as I confused full fledged teething with a cold.
I really should follow my mom's lead. When we were kids unless you were gushing blood or a bone was sticking out it didn't warrant a trip to the ER.
In fact when I was three I broke my elbow doing a penny drop...the thing where you hang upside down on a bar and swing yourself over so you land on your feet....well apparently sisters who are 7 are capable of doing the penny drops...but three year olds...well lets just say I had the "drop" part down really well.
So here I am a three year old girl who has just broken her elbow and my mom looks me over and tells me to go finish cleaning up the yard and picking up the toys and I'll be fine.
FINE???? If by fine you mean broken....well okay! Poor Mom...lol....I torment her with that story to this day.
I doubt Abby will ever have a story like mine. Her story will be something along the lines of....Mama remember when you took me to the ER for my first hang nail.
Ahhhh motherhood....never a dull moment!

Moving Day Cometh
So life in debville is NEVER boring.
I was planning on moving. However planning to move and actually executing the moving plans are quite different.
I PLANNED to get my tax rebate by the 9th as it was to be the deposit for the house....reality is that because I did my taxes online and had the online thing take my payment ($9.95) out of my rebate instead of using a credit card....I will have to wait for the paper check instead of getting it directly deposited.
I PLANNED to have Rob help with this move....reality is that he hurt his back really bad (doing laundry....I always knew laundry was evil) and he can't lift more than 15 lbs. Good thing Abby is still little!
I PLANNED to move in July....reality is the truck is rented for next weekend.
:::::sighs::::: The best made plans of mice and men....
So my days consist of work....my nights of balancing Abby on one hip while i attempt to pack my Grandma's china.
Motherhood is a bit like being a juggler. Either that like a game of dodge ball....er dodge baby balls since Abby seems to be practicing for the big leagues. She beaned me in the head the other day with a teether....outta no where whack! Looks like mommy might need a helmet! :/

A Fun Filled Day
We went to a studio and got family pics taken. It was fun. There is just one thing missing from the pictures....my Dad....for whatever reason he decided he didn't feel up to having his picture taken.
Abby isn't herself in these pictures because her mommy was a dweeb and scheduled them for the day after she got her shots. Doa!

So here are they are...in no particular order!
It's a beach scene....This is her favorite position....we call it the skydiving pose! Isn't she adorable?

Alright so daily blogging is the goal...but weekly blogging is more likely the reality.
Things around here are taking shape. Work for me is going really well. I am enjoying it. I am thankful to Rob that I can because he works 2nd shift so we don't need a full time babysitter. Abby stays with Dee for an hour in between when I get off of work and when Rob goes to work.
Abby is going to crawl any minute now. She rolls wherever she wants to go now...it's pretty funny. She also lunges forward...it is hilarious!
Rob and I are moving into a house June 1st. I hope to put the deposit down this weekend. It's a 3 bed 2 bath with ....drum roll please.....A YARD! Yipppeeeee!!!!!
Work is getting busy again...so off I go.

It's been a long time since I've made time for my blog. So long that I am pretty sure I don't have many readers left....that is of course assuming I had lots of readers previously. :)
I have decieded to make a daily entry mandatory. There isn't a day that passes that Abby doesn't do something absolutely adorable. She's growing like crazy. She will be 6 months old on Friday.
Rob and I have our schedules worked out so I go to work in the morning and he stays home with her. He then goes to work in the evening and I stay home with her. My friend Dee watches her when our schedules overlap. It's working out wonderfully because even though I feel sad leaving her to go to work she is with Mom or Dad all day long.
A little known fact in the world of parenting is that children take over every room in the house and decrease the living quarters by at least half. My condo (2 bedrooms 1 bath) was nice and roomy till Rob moved in then Sweet Pea (the obese lab) and the last and final straw....the small human that takes up more room than all the rest of us combined. Needless to say when our lease is up we are going to move into a house.
Abby LOVES dogs. She has a special attachment to Rafiqe. He walks into the room and she stops whatever she is doing to laugh with her whole being. It's hilarious! When Rafiqe walks out of the room she looks at the door and cries....which brings him running back into the room to make sure she's okay...which brings on new fits of laughter from my daughter. I think it's funny that Abby has the dog trained better than we do and she can't even talk yet.
My mom and Kelly went to a group counselling session because they are having a hard time dealing with loosing Dylan. I wasn't invited. I was upset about that and my Mom tried to make it better by telling me that Kelly just needs her to go because Kelly can't really say how she feels in front of me. I told mom to stop talking because that wasn't improving the situation.
I cry often because I want Dylan. Whenever Abby does something new I think "Dylan would be doing that too." I hear Abby laugh and cry because Dylan never did. Will the emptyness ever end? I am not to dense to realize that as deeply as it effects me it has more effect on my Kelly and Tyler too.
Okay...enough sadness...now off I go back to work.

Happy Birthday to me!
Today is the 2nd anniversary of my 29th b-day! Woo hoo!
I got a new job. I am so excited about it as I now make about 15k more than I did working at AMEX doing a similar (less stressful) job. It's nifty.
Of course going back to work means somebody other than myself gets to spend time with my precious little Abby....but somehow I need to feed her sooooo...it's a necessity I work. My friend Kimmy is watching her for me. She's going back to school soon so it's not a long term thing...but it is great to have her with someone I really trust.
Rob is working super crazy hours. Last night he did an all nighter...today he isn't home yet and since I haven't heard a word from him since about 1pm today I kinda figure he'll be there all night again. I had hoped he would be home for my birthday. Oh well...I am going to set up a make shift photo studio and take pic's of my beautiful little Abby....I'll post em as soon as I make em up.
Okay off I go to check the mail...I just love B-day cards!

A rant about my insurance company
Alright....I am so upset I feel like kicking something. Aetna is my insurance and has been the only insurance provider I've had for about 4 years...in fact even before I started at Amex I had Aetna.
In November I got a bill from Banner Good Sam (the hospital I had Abby in) for roughly $160,000. Aetna denies my claim. I call the insurance company and the conversation goes as follows.
Insurance Agent: How may I help you?
Me: Could you tell me why you denied my claim for my hospital stay?
Insurance Agent: Can you hold for one moment?
Me: Sure
Hold music plays for 15-20 minutes
Insurance Agent: I am sorry for the short delay. We did an investigation and our records indicate you have other primary insurance.
Me: I do not have any other insurance.
Insurance Agent: Our records indicate that you do.
Me: But I don't! Which other insurance do your records say I have?
Insurance Agent: I don't know we will have to do an investigation.
Me: I thought you already did the investigation.
Insurance Agent: We have and it shows there is another plan but does not show what plan.
Me: Okay......how do we fix this?
Insurance Agent: You have to prove you do not have other insurance
Me: How do I prove that?
Insurance Agent: It'll take 7-10 days
Me: What will take 7-10 days
Insurance Agent: The investigation.
Me: What investigation?
Insurance Agent: The one for the denial.
Me: Okay...so what do I need to do?
Insurance Agent: Take this reference number and call back in 7-10 days.
Me: Okay thank you.
Before the 7-10 days pass I get a bill from my OBGYN's office. They had paid all the claims from there and now they have TAKEN PAYMENT BACK!
Okay...back on the phone I go. Over and over and over again I call them to get this straightened out...The conversations are all very similar....I tell them the problem...they put me on hold for a "short" time usually not less than 20-30 minutes and I am given another reference number. All my requests for a supervisor are met with..."I am sorry Ma'am but no supervisor is available but I can put you through to their voice mail." I never got a call back.
Finally last month I got if fixed....they paid the bills like they should have and all was well....or so I so naively thought.
Today I got a bill from my OBGYN's office...they have once again TAKEN BACK their payments.
I get on the phone and the rude insurance agent tells....you guessed it....we will have to do an investigation into this. Argh!!! I am writing the BBB...and I am upset enough at this point I may just sue myself an insurance company!

15 minutes
I had no idea the value of 15 minutes.
Rob and I have been fighting ALOT! It got to the point that he started packing his car to leave the other night. It was ugly to say the least.
We sat down and ironed out some things. We made some commitments to one another...some too personal to share here...but this one I can share here and it is a HUGE one! We committed to taking 15 minutes a day to picking up around here. What an enormous difference 15 minutes makes!
Besides the house starting to look less like a Cooper-Allen hurricane....I do not feel overwhelmed and upset with Rob for pushing all the work on me anymore. I feel treasured instead of taken advantage of. I am starting to trust that when Rob says he will do something he will keep his promise. He loves me enough to take 15 minutes a day to do what is important to me. It doesn't sound like so much...but it IS!
Now I am no marriage counselor that is for sure...but from now on whenever anyone I know feels frustrated because a relationship is not what they wish it could be I am going to recommend 15 minute house cleaning therapy! I'll save my friends millions by keeping them from having to pay a therapist AND a maid! Yeah Deb! Hey ya'll you don't have to pay a therapist or a maid...HOWEVER I do accept tips!
Now for my favorite picture of the day....I was browsing through Christmas pictures and came across this one of Rob and the dogs. I bought both dogs sweaters for Christmas...Rafiqe's says "100% Mutt". Sweet Pea's says "Biscuits are a girls best friend!" Apparently Sweet Pea has had a few too many biscuits since her sweater didn't even come close to fitting. :)
